Privacy Policy

Placeproof is designed to work entirely on your device. This policy explains, plainly, what the app does and does not do with your data.
What We Collect
When you take a photo in Placeproof, the app captures:
- GPS coordinates at the moment the photo is taken
- The photo itself
Both are processed entirely on-device — including the on-device photo captioning feature — and stored only in local app storage on your phone. Placeproof does not require or offer account creation, so we never collect a name, email address, or any other identifying account information. The app does not include any analytics or tracking SDKs.
One exception, controlled by iOS itself rather than by Placeproof: if you have opted in to Share With App Developers under iOS Settings → Privacy & Security → Analytics & Improvements, Apple may share anonymized crash logs for Placeproof with us through App Store Connect. This is Apple's standard platform-level crash reporting, not a third-party SDK embedded in the app, and it only happens if you've turned that iOS setting on. You can disable it at any time in iOS Settings.
How It's Used
The GPS coordinates and photo are used solely to create the on-device record you asked Placeproof to create — for example, verifying where and when a photo was taken. Any crash logs Apple shares with us (only if you've enabled that iOS setting) are used solely to diagnose and fix app crashes.
Sharing With Third Parties
Placeproof does not share your photos, location data, or any other content with third parties, and nothing is transmitted off your device by the app. There is no backend server for Placeproof to send data to. The only data that can leave your device is the optional, Apple-managed crash log described above, which goes to Apple/App Store Connect — not to any other third party.
How to Delete Your Data
Because everything is stored locally on your device and there is no server-side copy, deleting your data is simple: uninstalling the app removes all photos and location data it created. There is nothing further to request or delete on our end.
